Steps & Process
Discovery & Research
We began with strategy meetings to fully understand Parallèle Alberta’s mission, audience, and brand tone. This phase included:
- Stakeholder interviews to define project objectives and user needs.
- Reviewing comparable bilingual business support organizations for UX and content inspiration.
- Identifying key functionality requirements — such as resource listings, news, and events — and defining content priorities.
- Conducting a UX audit on bilingual navigation best practices to ensure a seamless French/English experience.
Strategy & Planning
Next, we defined the project roadmap, outlining:
- Clear goals for engagement and accessibility.
- A bilingual content architecture that allows easy switching between languages.
- A sitemap focused on clarity.
- Messaging guidelines to balance professionalism with approachability.
UX & Wireframing
We designed wireframes to visualize the user journey and structure of each page:
- A welcoming homepage with a clear call-to-action to join the initiative.
- Service and resource pages that provide quick access to relevant content.
- A blog/news section for sharing community updates and success stories.
- Simple contact forms encouraging participation and inquiries.
Visual Design
The visual direction followed Parallèle Alberta’s existing branding; vibrant yet professional, reflecting growth and collaboration.
- We implemented a modern, minimal layout with generous white space and strong imagery.
- Consistent use of brand colours and iconography to enhance recognition.
- A focus on readability, especially in bilingual sections.
- Subtle animations to create an engaging browsing experience without compromising accessibility.
Development
Once the design was approved, our team developed a fully responsive, bilingual website using a CMS (WordPress).
- Custom bilingual content management system setup for easy content updates.
- SEO optimization for both English and French content.
- Integration of dynamic modules for news, events, and resources.
- Rigorous testing across devices and browsers to ensure flawless performance.
