An overview
If we thought 2021 was the year of creative freedom with logos, 2022 is about to prove us wrong.
While reliable logo trends like black and white designs and geometric shapes will continue this year, we’re expecting to see an equal amount of experimentation with candy colours, cartoon logos, and floral designs.
Let’s get started!
1. Throwback designs
Designers are looking to the past for inspiration for 2022 logos. Anything from 20’s and 30’s rubber hose animation to groovy 70’s fonts and early 2000’s trends are in the cards for this year. Draw heavily on the nostalgia to create a fun and memorable logo.
2. Scribbles/sketches
This trend also draws on nostalgia to create designs that look like the characteristic shaky drawings a child would make.
They’re fun, raw, and simplistic, especially compared to the more polished logo designs of 2021. If you’re looking for a rougher design that is attention-grabbing and optimistic, look no further than this logo design trend!
3. Geometry and simple shapes
This simple logo trend is a hold-over from 2021 and for good reason: it embodies “less is more.” These geometric designs are simple and easy to remember, which makes them perfect for building brand recognition.
Anything from circles, triangles, squares, and even dots and lines can be used to construct a geometric logo. And if you’re looking for a pop of something fun, consider adding bold colours to your geometric shapes.
4. Tall logos
This fun trend makes use of vertical space, unlike traditional circular, square, and horizontal logo designs, and uses this twist to create interest.
The designs are narrow, inspired by Art Deco, and they usually fit perfectly on online platforms. That means you can stick with one consistent logo across all your platform to create optimum awareness of your brand. There’s no need to have different logos to fit the space available — vertical and narrow fits everywhere!
5. Florals and clean lines
This trend isn’t new, but it’s definitely here to stay. With elegant floral designs, fragile frames, and thin branches and lines, it is beautiful enough to keep inspiring more and more logos.
The Boho/Scandinavian style is perfect for an eye-catching and elegant design.
6. Black and white
Black and white logos are also a 2021 staple, but their classic, timeless feel and simple design make them a winner this year too.
The black and white colour scheme is understated enough that you can experiment with other things. Go wild with fonts, geometric elements, and lines. You have a ton of stylistic flexibility and room to play with if you choose a black and white logo design.
7. White space
This is another interesting design trend to look out for in 2022.
This logo trend uses white space, also known as negative space, to create images or draw more attention to the focal point of the logo.
It creates a very balanced finished look that is both simple and more layered than the first glance will reveal.
A white space logo is easily adaptable for seasonal or special edition logos.
8. Layers, layers, layers!
This logo trend draws on the geometric shape trend to create something more complex.
The layers trend is more interactive, and it involves overlapping shapes and colours to create a more engaging final product.
Text can be interrupted by shapes, colours, or even animated figures to increase engagement and interest.
9. Experimental fonts
While this logo trend might sound complicated, it’s actually one of the more minimalist trends on the list.
There are no graphics or images in the background, and the focal point of the logo are the words and the font itself.
Play around with different letter heights, curvy or unusual lines, and the interaction between the different letters.
10. Gradient design
Eye-catching, fun, and dynamic, gradient logo designs are the perfect way to play with colour and font.
