Whether you’re one of our loyal customers or you’re thinking of a partnership with Creative Coco’Nuts, you probably have a lot of questions about what a design studio does!
Here is a new section of our blog just for you.
After all, we are professional website designers, we know our stuff, but we definitely want to share our knowledge and expertise about our web design services with you.
Now let’s say we’ve designed the perfect website for you – logo, banners, shopping cart included – and we’ve told you that you should probably maintain it, you might have some of the following questions…
WHAT PLATFORM WILL YOU USE TO DESIGN MY SITE?
When it comes to website development, the most popular content management system is called WordPress. This is mostly what we use!
We like this platform because it is a powerful and convenient tool for web coding and programming. It also supports many types of web content and mobile applications. You can insert a search functionality, a blog page, an online store, etc. On top of that, we can customize WordPress sites based on our clients’ needs.
All in all, the platform that we use is pretty much universal and works well for clients’ needs.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS PLATFORM FOR ME?
More than anything, WordPress is an open source platform that is simple to maintain. And maintenance is so important – see below! It also means that your site will be an optimized marketing tool, but also mobile friendly.
As a design studio, we also want to make sure that we use a platform that is perfect for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), easy to upgrade and that can keep up with the latest technologies and functionalities. Another advantage: it allows for a fully bilingual parallel website. Oui, oui!
HOW DO I RESIZE IMAGES ON MY SITE?
Why would you want to resize?
Well, simply put, on a site, size matters!
For people whose connection is slow (a sad reality, but a reality nonetheless), smaller images allow a quicker download time. It proves very useful for mobile applications, for instance. Also, you have to be aware that Google takes the loading speed of sites into account for ranking them when potential customers enter a search. More advantages, among others: saving space to be able to add new pictures or functionalities, redesign the content of your blog, etc.
All all in all, resizing means optimizing your site and it’s definitely a web solution that we recommend when you maintain you site. Moreover, the WordPress Image Customizer is actually very easy to use and will let you crop, resize, flip or rotate your images.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO MAINTENANCE ON MY SITE?
Now that’s the million dollar question!
It actually depends on the function of your website and the type of business or organization that you run. You’ll have to think about planning some scheduled maintenance for your website (like you would for your car or your furnace) with two simple questions in mind: Is my website working properly? Are there any security issue?
A monthly maintenance is ideal to keep things running smoothly, especially for e-commerce (Is your shopping cart working?) and if SEO is important for your company. Indeed, in today’s competitive market, it’s important to regularly refresh your content… because people want new things all the time! So ask yourself, from a marketing point of view, if your content is still relevant and will encourage visitors to come back.
Being up to date also means being on par with technology and making sure to update your software. In that case, we recommend a quarterly maintenance.
Even if you don’t work actively in developing your web presence, you should maintain your site at least once a year. Maybe you’ll want to update your content, but also your design, to reset / refresh your website and your brand!
